- Yup...it's buying time and I still can't decide on a winner 28.8 modem. What
- makes it worse is I've been doing my homework on this and I STILL can't
- decide!! Here's how I see it...what do you think?
-
- (1) USR Sportster V.34: All the magazine tests claim this is the best
- modem in the sub $250 class. They love the speed and the reliability of
- it, plus flash ROM...but I don't get that feeling here in the newsgroup. I
- hear alot of gripes about lousy tech support and finiky USR modems. Am I
- wrong? This is still what I'm leaning towards because alot of ISP's seem
- to use USR products and this might (should?) be a plus for good connections.
- Just want to stay away from that darn Rockwell chipset!!
-
- (2) Motorola Power 28.8 V.34: I like most of what I've heard about Motorola
- and they seem to have good tech support & warranty policies AND their own
- datapumps and a flash ROM. But I don't know anyone that has one to check it
- out myself. A strong contender between USR & Motorola...?
-
- (3) Supra Faxmodem 288: At first I thought the Supra was just another
- mid-class Rockwell based faxmodem but everyone seems to just LOVE 'em!
- Flash ROM, great tech support and a low price! I dunno... I thought you
- only got what you paid for but the Supra seems like a hell of a deal?
-
- There you have it...decisions, decisions, decisions... What do you all
- think? What do you use and are you happy with it? All info, comments, etc
- are most appreciated.
-
- Regards,
- Scott
